Salvete, Welcome!

Schola Classical Academy is a Charlotte County private school registered with the Florida Department of Education's Office of Independent Education & Parental Choice, offering an "umbrella" option for home educators. We provide accountability and record keeping services while allowing families the freedom to customize curricula to students' needs.

We are affiliated with Florida Virtual School, offering students and parents a flexible online educational option, and are available to consult with you with on your home education needs. We look forward to joining you on your learning adventure.

Schola Classical Academy embraces a style of education with roots in ancient Athens and Rome; the Renaissance, a period of revived interest in classical antiquity and flourishing of the arts, sciences, and intellectualism; and the Enlightenment, a movement emphasizing reason and individualism over tradition. We believe it is in society's best interest to question everything, particularly authority, and examine many sources in open-minded, honest inquiry.

Our curriculum has been inspired variously by The Well-Trained Mind: A Guide to Classical Education at Home, A Thomas Jefferson Education: Teaching a Generation of Leaders for the Twenty-First Century, and Climbing Parnassus: A New Apologia for Greek and Latin, tempered by the writings of Benjamin Franklin, Charlotte Mason, and John Holt. We favor an education using classic materials, both ancient and modern, within a framework of interest-led learning.
